Bougherra deal very close NOT dependant on Upson

Postby Ian » "Wed Jan 24, 2007 11:43 am"

I have just spoken to my mate who initiated the Bougherra story over the weekend.
He works close to the club...
Bougherra deal is very close but Bruce wants him IN ADDITION to keeping Upson, the Board see Bougherra as a player not just for now but for the future who will rise in value-Bruce feels that Taylor and Jaidi are short of Premiership ability so wants to buy now while he can...
I also have picked up a snippet that Bruce is looking closely at 2 left sided attacking players,(a) as cover for McSheff but (b) as longer term replacement for Gray who will go as soon as cover is found....
the names mentioned to me are Peter Sweeney of Stoke and Kris Commons of Notts Forest....
One other bit of intrigue.....Charlton have enquired about Gray and Forsell,Bruce is happy to trade and would accept a straight swop......target is not Marcus Bent as you might expect but Brian Hughes!!!!!!!!

In response to a return of Bryan Hughes,i wasnt his biggest fan when he was at the club origionally but it wasnt until he left that, we realised how good he was.Since his departure we have tried to replace him with players such as Yorke, Gray and Danns who in fairness couldnt lace Hughes boots and have cost us a lot more than possibly what he was asking for when he left.

It would be excellent news if we signed Bougherra and also kept Upson. I would welcome Bryan Hughes back if that happened. He had great ability and was only rarely injured. I remember Blues were looking at Kris Commons when he was at Port Vale (or was it Stoke?) but I though he was a right winger. I would be pleased to see Larsson properly signed up as well. It's not done until it's done!

Commons is indeed a left winger.

Hughsey????.....excellent, but drifts in and out of games to much from what is a prime position. Top draw player for me, just wish he was consistent.
There's people on the pitch, they think it's all over!.....It is now.

The bloke who initiated the Bougherra story was Sheffield chairman Dave Allen with his comments to Radio Sheffield. Unless he's your 'mate', I think your imagination is working overtime again....

Just watched that You tube footage of Bougherra and he looks amazing - good tackler, VERY skillful full of running and looks like he would really add to the team - video is a bit  weird (almost stalker like!) but ignoring that he looks class

think he would be a major signing for us regardless of upson staying or going

if he does go, I hope its to the cr@ppy hammers and they go down as we fly pass them back to the prem

- if he goes to them its gonna be another Lucas neill ***** - saying its for footy reasons where we all know its for $ only - sorry put $ but no POUND sign on my keyboard haha

also good shout on hughsey - [/b]

My mate (The Guardian) tells me that Bougherra had talks with Everton yesterday. If true, it could be that Blues will miss out.

Sheff Wed are clearly instigating an auction for him,and Blues are their preferred suitor.
Bruce wants him,and the purchase is NOT subject to Upson going....
It will happen if Bruce decides to make the move!

Two of my other mates (Daily Star and Daily Express) tell that Everton are closing in on a Bougeherra deal. Come on Blues! He looks a very good player.

Three of my mates (Daily Sport, Number 10 Downing Street, The Whitehouse) have told me that Upson is off to Rangers and Bougherra is going to Villa

Ian, what does your mate say about the reports in Daily Star, Express and Guardian regarding Everton closing in on Bougherra?

Says as far as he knows Blues have a deal with Sheff Wed whereby they will be notified of any other teams interest...i.e if Everton offer £2.5m,Blues will be told and will have chance to match it.
The player apparently favours Blues as he spent a few days pre season training with Blues about 3 years ago(not sure if anyone can verify that?)...

No offence Ian, but you are full of bullshire. Been looking at a few of your posts and obviously you are a Walter Mitty.
